I just turned 40 and, thankfully, had spent most of my time from 25 to 40 living consciously, constantly reexamining my life. So, in this way, it was nothing new, though the big 4 does feel daunting, just as a feeling of life passing by. I do want my middle to be super, too, but I have now learned that there are stages and phases to life, and everyone's is different. We just have to embrace it!
Midlife is where we pause, re-examine our life, make correction and plot a new course or stay on course. I think there are physical aspects of it, there’s also psychological and mental aspects of it too. For men, that’s why you start seeing the Porsche and the younger model trophy wife/girlfriend kinda stereotypical persona. It is about “what am I doing? Why am I here, and where am I going now that I am midway through this life”. However I also think this can happen at any time when one is lost and self-doubt starts creeping in or there is a shake in one’s confidence.
Being able to afford a Porsche is a bonus! 😜 the way I see it, or as John Hughes once wrote and as said by Ferris Bueller 'Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it!' Or as John Lennon once wrote “Life is what happens to you,
I think most of us, when we were younger, thought of midlife as ANCIENT. When I moved abroad and started to make friends with retirees and a wide range of colleagues from different ages and backgrounds, that perception started to change.
Now, that I'm in my fifties, I'm loving it. I feel overflowing with confidence and I trust myself more. However, it's not a perfect trajectory, as I still have low points and days, etc, just like anyone else. Physically, I made my peace with my aging body during my 40s, you kind of have to, I believe. But like you, I'm here for the long game, eating well, yoga, rebounding, living the life of the mind and so on.

Yeah, once I was past the age my mom and dad immigrated here, it was such a surreal feeling. I’m enjoying being in the middle! What a freeing time.
